Joshua Hoffine

Joshua Hoffine was born in Emporia Kansas. Hoffine earned a B.A. in English Literature from kansas State University. Hoffine then began to create his own photographs, slowly becoming an artist. 10 years ago Hoffine began to make Horror Photographs and in 2008 his work exploded due to the internet as his work is based on childhood fears.

Hello Late Night

Within this piece of artwork Joshua Hoffine has explored the fear of Death and Zombies. Hoffine's works is very horrifying. This is like a childhood fear as with zombies a lot of children are scared of the dead and them coming back alive. This links with my project as it is a childhood fear. I could use this within my project as I could explore the fears of children and maybe play around with childrens toys etc. Once again within this piece it is very Dark as the arms coming out are blackened from the mud. This seems to be a re-occurring theme within fear art.

Key

Within this art piece it shows a murder being taken place and it is almost as if a child is looking through the key hole as they are scared. I really like this piece as I like the idea of looking through a key hole and seeing something horrifying as its ironic as normally a key hole would be security. This relates to my project because of fear as this piece of art is truly terrifying. I will use this within my project as I will explore the concept of the key hole. The colours within this are all white which shows purity but makes the people look like zombies. It makes the blood stand out even more.

I have done a large amount of photography for my art pieces, this is photography that I will be using throughout my project. I went out in the dark for this photography, taking photographs of dark allies, forests and other interesting features such as textures under bridges etc. I found going out in the dark really interesting as while taking the photographs I became scared as I didn't know what was within the darkness, this is shown within my photography. I will use this photography throughout my project.
