Jenna Maurice Montazeri

Jenna Maurice Montazeri

Jenna is an artist who isn't well known as a lot of her work is found on Blogger which isn't an established website to post your work. A lot of her work is performance and installation. I don't know too much about the artist as all I can find is blogger but generally her work is quite unusual with some aspects of fear.

Forbidden Doorknob

Within this photo it is an instillation piece by Jenna Maurice Montazeri. As it shows it is a doorknob which is covered by needles. I believe that this is related ot fear because it is the fear that people have in life of going down a path without knowing where it is going. It can also be related to death as it is metaphorically a door that we don't want to pass through. As you can see below I have created my own installation piece of this art work. I have covered a door handle in white tack and then covered it in needles. I believe that this has an aspect of fear as when people first saw it they couldn't believe what I had done to the door handle. No one would dare touch it due to the fear of being hurt.

  1. Ben. It's Jenna. I just found this post online somehow and I am interested to see that you have made another iteration of this work! This was actually the cover that I made for my studio door when I started grad school. And you are correct... this piece had to do with fear, for sure. I was also interested in the aggressive non-verbal qualities of the piece as well. What materials did you use to make your version?
